In a recent development, IAS officer Vandana Dadel, belonging to the 1996 batch, has been designated as the new Home Secretary of Jharkhand. Ms. Dadel steps into the position, succeeding Arava Rajkamal, an IAS officer of the 2008 batch. The appointment has been as per the directives by the Election Commission of India.

Arava Rajkamal, who previously held the position of Secretary to the Chief Minister, assumed additional responsibilities for the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department on March 5th. However, his tenure as Home Secretary abruptly ended on March 18th, lasting only 13 days, as directed by the Election Commission.

This directive, aimed at maintaining impartiality during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, necessitated the removal of home secretaries concurrently holding roles in chief minister’s offices. Responding to this directive on Monday, the Jharkhand government proposed three candidates for consideration: Vandana Dadel, Manish Ranjan (IAS:2002:JH), and Aboobacker Siddique P (IAS:2003:JH). Ultimately, Vandana Dadel emerged as the selected candidate to assume the important role of Home Secretary in Jharkhand.
