Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh


In a major development, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at bolstering the state’s clean energy sector and infrastructure. Here are the key highlights:

1. Solar Power Surge: The government has given the green light for a massive 750 MW solar project in Kadapa and a 100 MW solar plant in Anantapur, a move set to significantly boost the state’s renewable energy capacity and create employment opportunities for up to 1,700 individuals.

2. Substation Boost: In a bid to enhance power distribution, the Chief Minister inaugurated 12 AP-Transco substations across various districts, with plans for 16 more substations in the pipeline. The combined cost of these projects is estimated at a staggering Rs 66 billion.


3. Collaborative Ventures: Andhra Pradesh has joined hands with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to embark on 500 MW wind and solar energy projects, including a pumped storage project worth Rs 100 billion. These ventures are projected to generate employment for approximately 1,500 people.

4. Electric Vehicle Revolution: The expansion of Avera AI Mobility’s electric vehicle scooter manufacturing capacity from 25,000 to 100,000 units promises to invigorate the state’s electric vehicle sector, creating an additional 200 jobs.


5. Solar Power Agreement: In a strategic move, the state government has entered into a contract with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Under this agreement, SECI will generate a staggering 17,000 million units of solar energy in Andhra Pradesh, with 13,000 million units allocated for the agricultural sector at a discounted tariff. SECI is committed to supplying 3 GW of solar energy by September 2024, an additional 3 GW by September 2025, and 1 GW by September 2026.

6. Renewable Collaboration: A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked in August 2023 between NHPC Limited and Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited for the establishment of renewable energy and pumped hydro storage projects, underscoring the state’s commitment to clean and sustainable energy sources.

These ambitious initiatives signify Andhra Pradesh’s resolute commitment to a greener and more prosperous future, with a strong emphasis on clean energy and infrastructure development.
