Elets National Transforming Transport Summit

This momentous event took place on September 8th, 2023, at the ‘The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata’. The summit themed ‘Advancing Technology and Connectivity in Transportation,’ provided a platform for stakeholders to explore the latest advancements and foster innovation in the industry.

The Elets National Transforming Transport Summit brought together diverse perspectives, inspiring discussions, and groundbreaking solutions, all aimed at driving positive change in transportation. The summit’s success is a testament to the collective commitment to embracing technology and connectivity as driving forces behind the transformation of transportation.

The event commenced with the Welcome Address of Dr Ravi Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, eGov Magazine, and Founder, Publisher & CEO, Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd, “The transportation industry is undergoing swift advancements, public expectations are shifting, and the entire energy landscape is transforming. The concept of multi-modal transit, as well as the integration of diverse transportation infrastructure and ecosystems, is gaining traction.”


Followed by a welcome address speech given by Shri Dilip Mondal, Minister of State, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal, stating “The West Bengal government is actively supporting the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem by allocating grants for EV charging infrastructure, which is being set up by both government entities and private stakeholders” and Shri Rajanvir Singh Kapur, IAS, Managing Director, West Bengal Transport Corporation, Government of West Bengal during his welcome address highlighted “Up until now, we’ve been aware about the necessity, myths, and potential of sustainable mobility. With recent developments in India and specifically in West Bengal, we’re on the brink of acquiring 1,180 electric buses.” Shri Debasish Banerjee, Managing Director, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited in his welcome speech stated, “As countries increasingly urbanize, transportation becomes a crucial aspect of daily life for city dwellers. Kolkata has been a pioneer in this area, being the first city to introduce electric trams and subsequently implementing an underground metro system as well”.

Other Key dignitaries in the inaugural session were Shri Debasish Banerjee, Managing Director, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited, Haimanti Poddar, Senior Climate and Energy Adviser, Electric Mobility Policy India Lead, British Deputy High Commission, Shri U.J.M Rao, Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Rail Corporation – Government of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Sanjay Kumar Das, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Technology & Electronics – Department of West Bengal – Managing Director-WEBEL and Ms Melinda Pavek, Consul General – Consulate General of United States of America.
