Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) today unveiled its ambitious plans for the development of the 86-acre CG City land at its administrative headquarters. This landmark initiative is pivotal for the Lucknow Metro to maintain its commercial viability and offer passengers affordable fares.

Key Highlights:

• Land Allocation: The Uttar Pradesh Government has bestowed a significant 86-acre parcel from the CG City area to UPMRC, marking it as the first Metro entity in India to receive such a vast tract from the state.
• Attendees and Stakeholders: The pivotal meeting was presided over by MD, UPMRC, Shri Sushil Kumar, and witnessed participation from senior UPMRC officials. The Ernst & Young team, responsible for strategic land planning and tender drafting, provided insights into the land’s potential. Additionally, over 40 renowned groups, including Shalimar Group, Apollomedics, and The Leela, attended the session both in-person and virtually.
• Land Division and Usage: The 86-acre land, acquired from LDA to boost non-fare box revenue for UPMRC, is slated for an eclectic mix of residential and commercial projects. Proposed amenities include parks, medical and educational institutions, and recreation centers. The land is strategically split into eight distinct parcels, ranging from 2.74 to 28.72 acres, with a varied proposal for mixed, commercial, institutional, and residential uses across sections.
• Location Advantage: Situated in the city’s southeastern quarter along the Lucknow-Sultanpur Road, the CG City offers proximity to landmarks like the Ekana Cricket Stadium and The Centrum Hotel, amplifying its allure.

Emphasizing the project’s transformative potential Shri Sushil Kumar, MD, UPMRC,, noting, “The CG City venture presents a monumental opportunity for investors, stakeholders, and the local populace. Given its prime location, the resulting infrastructure promises widespread benefits. Moreover, the non-fare revenue will be instrumental in sustaining Lucknow’s Metro Train Operations.”
