In a significant bureaucratic reorganisation, the Maharashtra government has announced a series of key transfers and appointments across various departments. The reshuffle, which took effect from August 4, 2023, aims to optimise administrative efficiency and enhance governance at different levels.

Notable among the appointments is the placement of seasoned civil servant Sonia Sethi, IAS (1994), as the new Principal Secretary (Revenue & Forest Department) at Mantralaya, Mumbai. Her wealth of experience is expected to bring valuable insights to the crucial department.


Meanwhile, Rupinder Singh, IAS (1996), has been entrusted with the role of Resident Commissioner and Principal Secretary at Maharashtra Sadan, New Delhi, a position that demands deft diplomacy and effective representation.

Gorksha Gadilkar, IAS (2013), previously Chairman of the District Caste Verification Committee in Wardha, will now lead as the Director of Sericulture in Nagpur, harnessing his dynamic leadership for the growth of the sector.

The overhaul extends to key managerial roles as well, with Prakash B. Khaple, IAS (2013), transitioning from his post as Chairman of the District Caste Verification Committee in Nanded to take on the role of Joint Managing Director at MAHADISCOM, Aurangabad, with a focus on power distribution management.


The transformational journey continues with officers like Avinash Pathak, IAS (2013), who will now spearhead the Zilla Parishad in Beed as Chief Executive Officer, leveraging his insights from his previous role as Additional Divisional Commissioner in Aurangabad.

In an ambitious move, Gulab R. Kharat, IAS (2013), will lead the transformative Shivshahi Punarvasan Project in Mumbai as its Managing Director, coming from his role as Chairman of the District Caste Verification Committee in Jalgaon.

Other appointments include Dr. Pravinkumar Deore, IAS (2013), as the new Director of OBC Bahujan Kalyan in Pune, and Milind Kumar W. Sale, IAS (2013), who will assume the role of Joint Commissioner, State Tax in Aurangabad.

The shuffle also covers posts outside Maharashtra, with Satish Kumar D. Khadke, IAS (2014), stepping into the role of Metropolitan Commissioner at the Nashik Metro Region Development Authority in Nashik, and Shri Sanjay S. Katkar, IAS (2014), moving to the position of Joint Managing Director at CIDCO, Navi Mumbai.

These changes not only reflect the state government’s commitment to efficient governance but also highlight the immense pool of talent within the bureaucracy. The new appointments are poised to invigorate various departments and lead Maharashtra towards a path of progress and development.
