Retired IPS Rupak Kumar Dutta


In a recent development, the West Bengal government has designated Rupak Kumar Dutta, a distinguished retired officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) belonging to the 1981 batch and former Karnataka DGP, as the newly appointed Security Advisor to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Prior to this formal clearance on Monday evening, Mr. Dutta had been providing advisory services to the state government, including during the Panchayat elections.

As the Security Advisor, his primary focus will be providing counsel on security matters concerning international and inter-state borders in West Bengal, in addition to addressing general issues related to law and order. Notably, Mr. Dutta’s illustrious career also includes serving as a former Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
