PM Modi U.S. visit


Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States has resulted in the successful completion of several noteworthy projects. These achievements include a collaborative plan for the production of jet engines, the establishment of the assembly line for MQ9B High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones in India, and the formation of the Artemis Accord, enabling joint exploration of the Moon and Mars in a safe manner.

In addition, a significant announcement was made regarding an investment of up to USD 825 million by Micron Technology, a renowned American technology company. This investment will facilitate the establishment of a new semiconductor assembly and testing plant in India, with support from the Indian government.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden established two Joint Task Forces focused on advanced telecommunications. These task forces will concentrate on Open RAN and the research and development of 5G/6G technologies. The collaboration will be led by the US Next G Alliance and the Indian Bharat 6G Alliance, fostering public-private partnerships between vendors and operators.


The field of quantum computing also saw a significant milestone as the two nations developed a joint Indo-US Quantum Coordination Mechanism. This mechanism aims to promote cooperation between businesses, academia, and governments, with the ultimate goal of achieving a comprehensive Quantum Information Science and Technology accord.

During the visit, the US-India Defence Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) was inaugurated. INDUS-X, a network consisting of academic institutions, businesses, organizations, and think tanks, will drive the development of advanced defence technologies in both countries.


In a groundbreaking move, the US Deodiartment of Defense’s Space Force signed its first international cooperative research and development agreement with Indian start-ups 114 AI and 3rdiTech. These collaborations, along with General Atomics, will focus on creating cutting-edge components utilizing AI and semiconductor technologies.

Furthermore, both leaders expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the field of space exploration. A strategic framework for collaboration in human spaceflight is expected to be developed by the end of 2023 between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

India also became a signatory to the Artemis Accords, joining forces with the US Department of State and seven other founding members. The accords aim to foster a shared vision of space exploration for the betterment of all humanity. Under this initiative, NASA has ambitious plans to make groundbreaking scientific discoveries, send the first woman and the first person of color to the Moon, and explore previously uncharted areas of the lunar surface.
