Air India and Vistara

Air India and Vistara, two of India’s top airlines, have recently announced their partnership to offer passengers seamless connectivity to multiple destinations across India. Customers will benefit from the interline agreement between the two airlines by having a greater selection of destinations and flexible travel alternatives.

Intended benefits from the collaboration:

Increased connectivity: Customers can reserve their journey on either airline and connect with ease to a variety of locations throughout India, including a number of domestic and foreign locations. Customers of Air India will be able to connect to numerous cities in India via Vistara’s domestic network thanks to the cooperation. Customers of Vistara will now be able to connect to a number of Air India’s foreign destinations.

Single-ticket travel: As a result of the cooperation, customers will be able to check their bags through to their final destinations and receive their boarding tickets at the first point of departure for all segments of their journeys on a single ticket. Customers won’t have to go through the inconvenience of checking in again at connecting airports thanks to this.

Enhanced on-ground travel experience: Air India and Vistara operate at the same terminals at most major airports in India, adding to the ease of the on-ground travel experience for customers with interline itineraries.

Seamless transfer during operational disruptions: The ‘disruption transfer’ functionality, also known as ‘Interline Considerations on Irregular Operations (IROPs)’, has been adopted by Air India and Vistara. In the event of operational issues, such as cancellations, delays, diversions, and more, this enables both airlines to effectively transfer customers to one other’s earliest available alternative flights. Customers will only encounter minor inconvenience as a result.

This collaboration has taken place at a time when the Indian aviation sector is beginning to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic’s devastating effects on the travel sector. Both airlines’ networks are anticipated to grow as a result of the agreement, as will passenger volume.

Customers will have more travel alternatives thanks to Air India and Vistara’s interline collaboration, which will also help both airlines better utilise their resources and cut costs. In order to boost customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness, the partnership will also allow the two airlines to take use of one another’s capabilities and skills.
