Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated North India’s first hyper-scale data centre, Yotta Yotta D1 in Greater Noida.

The Yotta D1, which is built at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore and spans over 3,00,000 square feet, is the first one out of 6 data centres that have been planned in the data centre park, Greater Noida.

The data centre will serve as the initial pillar of North India’s 5G revolution. It has internet peering exchanges and direct fiber connectivity from worldwide cloud providers, making it particularly helpful for global connectivity, according to the official announcement. It provides direct fiber connectivity to all major telecom providers via four separate routes.

Moreover, the data centre will receive numerous additional services, such as public cloud service, cyber security, and disaster recovery, to promote Digital India. Powered by 50 MW of power, it is safeguarded with cutting-edge technology to ensure impeccable security of servers, storage, and networks, as well as the digital applications and content running on them.

According to the official announcement, the data centre also includes a 48-hour power backup.

On the occasion, the Yogi Government and the Hiranandani Group inked Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 39,000 crore to be invested on various projects over the next five years, according to an official release.

Yogi stated that technology and India’s talented youth, who have been instrumental in bringing about the world’s digital revolution, will play a critical role in realising PM Modi’s goal of self-reliance and making India a $5 trillion economy if all facilities and resources are made available to them.

“Uttar Pradesh is on the verge of becoming the country’s data centre hub. Under the data centre policy announced by the state last year, the government had envisaged setting up of 250 megawatt data centres with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore within six years in the state. We have managed to accomplish that target within a year,” the Chief Minister said at the launch of the hyperscale data centre, developed by the Yotta Infrastructure, an arm of the Hiranandani Group.

“We have met the target of Rs 20,000 crore worth of investments and received investment proposals from Indian & global investors of 600 megawatt data centres so far,” he added.

Inviting more investments in the state, Yogi said that the new policy not only simplifies the land assignment procedure, but also considers the needs of investors in all aspects of infrastructure, including the availability of energy.
