Hindustan Unilever Limited’s newly-opened spray-dried factory in Hamirpur district — the first gender-balanced factory in South Asia — is all set to accomplish the objectives of Uttar Pradesh government’s ambitious ‘Mission Shakti’ scheme in the Bundelkhand region.

On a longstanding mission to drive gender equality at the workplace, the HUL has hired as many as 101 women employees under the Mission Shakti. Furthermore, there is a plan to recruit an additional 153 women employees soon.

Similarly, the unit is exploring the possibility of hiring differently-abled persons. The entire investment, when completed by 2025, will provide direct and indirect employment to numerous people in the region once known as one of the most backward regions of the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also lauded HUL for giving a boost to the government’s Mission Shakti programme by engaging in skill training and job opportunities to women and even people with disabilities at the local level and thus, empowering them.

CM Yogi Adityanath during his virtual address on the occasion of inauguration of the factory said that talented women are coming forward to work with more confidence, determination and energy, which are great signs for the development in the state.
