Transformation of Uttar Pradesh


A new chapter is going to be added to the continuing story of the transformation of Uttar Pradesh with the third groundbreaking ceremony of industrial investment projects in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 3.

In less than 5 years, it is the third such event when top industrialists of India are gathering in Lucknow with the shared vision of making UP the hotspot of manufacturing and industrial activity.

During the Ground Breaking Ceremony, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of 1,406 projects worth more than Rs 80,000 crores. The projects encompass diverse sectors like Agriculture and Allied, IT and Electronics, MSME, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Pharma, Tourism, Defence & Aerospace, Handloom & Textiles, etc.


The industry tycoons that will remain present on the grand occasion will also share their views and vision with the people present and also will talk about their future plans. These include Gautam Adani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Niranjan Hiranandani and Matthieu EYRIES who will share the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kumar Mangalam Birla is the Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, Gautam Adani is the Chairman & MD of the Adani group; Niranjan Hiranandani leads the Hiranandani group, and Matthieu Eyriess is the Vice President of Air Liquide.


Among the other top industry leaders to attend the ceremony are Sanjeev Puri, Chairman and MD of ITC Ltd; Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and MD, Jindal Group; Yusuf Ali, MD Lulu Group; and many more.

The rapid strengthening of infrastructure, vastly expanded road and air connectivity, a secure environment and ease of doing business have paved the way for unprecedented industrial activity in UP. Sectors like IT and electronics, health care, energy, food processing, education and MSME, among others, have attracted huge investments in the last five years.

The UP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath organised Investors Summit 2018 on 21st -22nd February 2018, with the first Ground Breaking Ceremony being held on July 29, 2018. The second Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on 28th July 2019.

During the first Ground Breaking Ceremony, the foundation of 81 projects worth more than Rs 61,500 Crore was laid, While, in the second Ground Breaking Ceremony, the foundation of 290 projects with investments of more than Rs 67,000 crore was laid.

The Ground Breaking Ceremony 3 will see maximum 805 projects in the MSME sector coming on the ground followed by 275 for agriculture and allied industries and 65 for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

The other projects coming on the ground included six projects related to education worth Rs 1,183 crore, seven projects worth 489 crores of dairy, and 6 of animal husbandry worth Rs 224 crores.

The state has the highest 90 lakh MSMEs, 14.2 per cent of the country. In GBC III, projects worth 4459 crores of MSMEs are being set up in the state. These included two in Agra, three in Aligarh, two in Amethi, one in Ayodhya, seven in Barabanki, two in Bareilly, one in Chandauli, one in Etawah, two in Fatehpur, one in Firozabad, 40 in Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad. Six in Gorakhpur, four in Hardoi, one in Hathras, one in Jaunpur, four in Kanpur Dehat, four in Kanpur Nagar, one in Lakhimpur Kheri, eight in Lucknow, 15 in Mathura, one in Meerut, one in Moradabad, one in Saharanpur, one in Shahjahanpur, one in Sitapur and two in Varanasi.

In GBC III, 29 projects, all above Rs 500 crore each, account for worth Rs 40,106 crore of the total investment of Rs 80,224 crores scheduled to come on the ground.

Similarly, there are 52 projects worth Rs 15,614 crore between two hundred and five hundred crores. There are 112 projects worth Rs 9,959 crore ranging from Rs 50 crore to Rs 200 crore. As many as 230 projects worth Rs 10 to 50 crore account for a total investment of Rs 5,068 crore. There are 972 projects of less than Rs 10 crore worth Rs 2,757 crore and 11 projects worth Rs 5,408 crore supporting infrastructure.

Investment proposals worth 80,000 crores are coming on the ground in GBC 3. In terms of the investment cost of the projects coming up include seven data centres worth Rs 19,928 crore, agriculture and allied industries worth Rs 11,297 crore, IT and electronics 26 worth Rs 7,876 crore, infrastructure 13 projects worth 6,632 crore, manufacturing worth Rs 6,227 crore. 27, Handloom and Textile 46 worth Rs 5,642 crore, Renewable Energy 23 worth Rs 4,782 crore, MSME 805 for 4,459 crore, Housing and commercial 19 worth Rs 4,344 crore, Health Care eight worth Rs 2,205 crore, Defence 23 worth Rs 1,774 crore, 26 of Warehousing and Logistics worth Rs 1,295 crores, Education worth Rs 1183 crores, Pharma and Medical Supplies 65 to 1088 crores, Tourism and Hospitality 23 to 680 crores, Dairy 489 crores, Animal Husbandry six worth Rs 224 crores and A project of the film is going to hit the ground at a cost of 100 crores.

With work going on in many mega infrastructure projects like Ganga Expressway, Defence Industrial Corridor and Noida International Airport, there is likely to be a major boost in investment in the state in the next few years.
