Gujarat Govt Promotes 5 IAS Officers to Principal Secretary Level

In a minor administrative rejig, the Government of Gujarat promoted five IAS officers as principal secretaries on February 24, 2022.

Jai Prakash Shivahare (IAS 2002-Batch), Commissioner of Health, Medical Services and Medical Education has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL), a state government arm that manages power generation, supply and distribution. Shivhare will take over the post from Shahmeena Husain. She is an IAS officer of 1997-Batch and has been promoted to the rank of Principal Secretary and appointed as the new Health Commissioner.

Ashwini Kumar, Secretary, Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department; Sonal Mishra, Commissioner, Rural Development; Manish Bhardwaj, Secretary, Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Cooperation Department; and Ramesh Chand Meena, Director General of Ahmedabad-based Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) have been promoted to principal secretary level, however, they will continue to hold their posts.
