VC Sajjanar, Stephen Raveendra


The Government of Telangana, on August 25, moved a bureaucratic reshuffle and assigned new posts to two senior IPS officers with immediate effect.

VC Sajjanar (IPS 1996-Batch) Commissioner, Cyberabad Police, has been transferred and [posted Managing Director (MD), Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). Sajjanar will take over the post from the incumbent MD, TSRTC, M Stephen Raveendra. Raveendra is a senior IPS officer and is presently posted as Inspector General (IG) of Police, West Zone.

Being the Commissioner of Cyberabad, the information technology hubs of HITEC City and Gachibowli and several strategic clusters around Hyderabad were under Sajjanar’s duty area. During his tenure, Sajjanar had rolled out several initiatives to keep a check on crime, especially cybercrime and accidents. Also, his efforts in coordination with IT companies and NGOs to aid the people facing the wrath of the Covid-19 pandemic is considered to be instrumental.

Sajjanar also played a crucial role in helping the migrant workers in the area during the lockdown. Further, he extended aid to the Covid patients with blood donation, isolation centres and oxygen supply.


Although the state government has called it a routine transfer but Sajjanar’s tenure as Cyberabad’s Commissioner, which is now three years, has become a talking point for many.
