Following the onset of COVID pandemic, businesses have been hit adversely. How adoption of technology and going digital poses a potential solution?

Technology has emerged as the biggest winner during the time of the pandemic allowing India and its enterprises to modernize and harness its power along with cushioning the impact of the pandemic. COVID-19 has acted as a catalyst towards enterprise cloud adoption both for business continuity and workforce enablement. Organizations across verticals are limiting customer walk-ins by augmenting their digital capabilities and extending new online services. Many organizations have shifted from traditional in-house work environment to cloud and data centers so as to accommodate WFH strategy and cut down on the real estate and in-house server maintenance expenditure.

On a simpler note, with the concept of placing online orders for food or groceries, going digital has helped in keeping many businesses afloat. It’s not just for financial purposes that technology is being used during the Covid time’s government, healthcare, education institutes and banks among other sectors are taking the digital route. For example, Arrow PC has helped in implementing HCI (Dell VxRail) for GLA University improving their data center scalability and flexibility with faster resource provisioning, thus helping the university function with little or no setbacks. We are advancing towards a digital age, which is not just a solution during the pandemic times but also for the future and the pandemic only gave us an urgent push towards achieving it.

How are data centres playing a key role in not only strengthening businesses but governments as well?

The Indian government is giving a huge push for the DC sector by not just supporting the infrastructure development but also by making rigorous changes to the DC policy. The government’s aim is to make India a DC hub. Understanding the significance of DCs, GoI has established multiple data centers under the aegis of National Informatics Center. Indian government is planning to bring in several legislations on data sovereignty.

With the drive for data localization by the Indian government, multinational companies will be obligated to open local facilities of data centers. The national data center India Act also lays emphasis on setting up as many data centers as possible over a shorter period of time because the IT market in India has undergone an explosion. With many digital transformation processes that the government has introduced for the functioning of its own departments, DCs will have a boost from not just enterprises but also from the government.

The evolving hybrid cloud mode of deployment, along with the growing demand for content streaming, presents a favorable opportunity for market growth. New business ideas will leverage the cloud and multiply faster than ever. Cloud was born to provide the required not only in terms of new work environments but also flexibility in terms of cost and usage.
