Following a recent order from the Government of Bihar amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Principal Secretary, Health, Uday Singh Kumawat (1993-Batch IAS) was removed from his post on Monday, July 28. Pratyaya Amrit, a 1991-Batch IAS officer has been posted to replace Kumawat.
Amrit, at present, is also the Principal Secretary of Energy and Disaster Management Department and he is also holding additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. Following the administrative shift, Amrit will continue to hold the charge of Principal Secretary, Disaster Management alongside Principal Secretary, Health. However, he will be relieved of his additional charge.

Considering Bihar’s administration, Kumawat is the second Principal Secretary to be removed from the Health Department in the last two months. Earlier, in May, Sanjay Kumar was transferred to the Tourism Department.
