K Vijay Kumar appointed as the senior security advisor in Union Home Ministry


Retired IPS officer K. Vijay Kumar, former advisor to the Governor of the former state of Jammu & Kashmir has been appointed Senior Security Advisor to the Union Home Ministry, an official said.

The 1975-Batch officer will “advise the Ministry on security related matters of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Left Wing Extremism-affected States,” the order said.

The appointment order stated that Kumar will be in the position for a period of one year from the date of taking charge.


Kumar has served as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Director of the National Police Academy in Hyderabad and Chief of the Tamil Nadu police special task force.

Post retirement as DG, CRPF in 2012, Kumar had also served as Senior Security Advisor (LWE) in the Home Ministry.
