JK Tripathy appointed as the Tamil Nadu DGP

Tamil Nadu government has appointed JK Tripathy as Director General of Police (DGP) for the state. A 1985-Batch officer, Tripathy succeeded TK Rajendran, who retired on Sunday, June 30.


Tripathy was selected from a panel of six officers vetted by the Union Public Service Commission. He has been appointed for tenure of two years, till June 30, 2021. He will attain superannuation on May 31, 2020.

With over 30 years of experience, he has held various posts including GP, Prisons and Commissioner of Police in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli.

Hailing from Odisha, Tripathy is at present heading Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board as DGP/Chairman.
