Industrialist Mukesh Ambani has started a subsidiary company in Estonia for e-governance.
The company is set up in collaboration with the Estonian government’s former chief information officer Taavi Kotka.
The new company will explore ideas on e-governance and the Estonian Government will play the part of a facilitator.
The company is also exploring the possibilities of roping in private companies.
Estonia is a digitally advanced nation and has a digital penetration of 99 percent.
Ambani is an e-resident of Estonia since May this year.
This virtual residency helps a foreigner like Ambani to set up a company in Estonia.
Many renowned Indians like Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy had also visited Estonia in the past to learn more about the digitisation process.
The e-residency initiative was started in 2014 as a digital identity for foreigners.
Apart from forming a company, an e-resident can access banking services, payment processing and also gets a digital signature.
