
The Information Technology Department of Daman and Diu in partnership with state-owned telecommunications company BSNL has started providing free wi-fi facility at many tourist and public places of the union territory as part of the Digital India programme.
“Free wi-fi internet service has been made available at many tourist and public places as a step towards Digital India programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Daman and Diu administrator Praful Patel said.
To promote tourism, the service has been made available in the areas which are popular among tourists like Fort area, Pargola Garden, Bom Church, Moti Daman and Nani Daman Jetty, Devka Beach, Marwad Hospital, Somnath Temple and Jampore Beach.

In Diu, the facility can be availed at Nagoa Beach, Khukri, Bandar Chowk, and Jalandhar Guest House.

The service enables a user to use data upto 300 MB on mobile handset at a speed of 2-4 Mbps.
