Aparna-Kumar-UP-cadre-IPS-officerIn a remarkable feat ever achieved by an All India service officer (male or female) from India, UP cadre IPS officer Aparna Kumar (IPS:2002:UP) scaled the Mount Everest on 21 May, 2016 after already climbing five other mountain summits.

Kumar has been so far credited with climbing Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus, Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Kumar has already tried twice to climb the Mount Everest, during which first an avalanche and then an earthquake obstructed her mission. In the third attempt, she finally conquered the challenge and has now climbed six of the seven summits which are considered to be the most challenging for mountaineers across the world.
