30 IAS, 50 PCS officers shifted in 2nd major reshuffle in UP

UPlogo_B_14_04_2012In another major administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh Government has transferred 30 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers.

It is widely believed that the transfers are being done with an eye on the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The government came up with the list of IAS officers on Thursday. Some prominent officers, who have been transferred or given new/additional assignments, include:

  • Ashish Kumar Goyal, who was earlier Secretary, Basic Education Department, is now the Commissioner of Food Security Department.
  • Ajay Kumar Singh, who was the Secretary, Rural Engineering and Public Works Department (PWD), will replace Ashish Kumar Goyal as Secretary, Basic Education Department.
  • Sudesh Kumar Ojha, earlier Special Secretary Finance, will now be Director, Information and Special Secretary, MSME.
  • Arvind Kumar Singh will take over as the new Director (Administration), Medical and Health Services.

In addition to these officers, 50 Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officers have also been transferred.

In the first round of reshuffle in March this year, the state government had transferred 67 IAS officials, including 29 District Magistrates.
