Today, it is India’s largest consumer electronics company and according to The Economic Times, also India’s second biggest consumer facing company, by revenue. It is the country’s leading brand of Smartphones, Tablets, Televisions, Digital Appliances – ACs, Refrigerators, Microwaves and Washing Machines, Printers, Medical Equipment, Network Systems and Mobile Enterprise Security Solution, KNOX. In March, Samsung Mobiles was voted by Indian consumers as the country’s ‘Most Trusted Brand’ across categories, according to a report by TRA (formerly Trust Research Advisory).


Samsung India has two manufacturing facilities – in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Chennai, Tamil Nadu – 3 Research & Development Centres and a Design Centre, which produce world-class products and innovations.

Samsung is also one of India’s biggest job creators – providing employment to over 40,000 people across the country. Of these, around 10,000 work in its R&D Centres.


Samsung’s R&D Centre in Bangalore is the biggest research centre outside Korea.

Make for India: The Company’s software engineers develop software solutions for various products for the Indian market including Televisions, Smartphones and Feature Phones. As part of the Make for India initiative, Samsung India, with its strong R&D expertise and keen insights gathered through consumer research, created products that were specially designed to meet the Indian consumers’ needs.

Patents: Samsung India has recorded the highest number of patents in India till date. Samsung R&D received the prestigious National Intellectual Property Award from the Government of India in 2015 for the highest number of granted patents in India in year 2013-14 from inventions Made in India and first filed in India.
