Pay market price for LPG if not enrolled for subsidy

DBT on LPGFrom April 1, consumers will have to pay the market rate for the LPG cylinders if they have not registered for the direct benefit transfer of LPG subsidy scheme.

The grace period to enroll for the subsidy ended on March 31.

The scheme was introduced in 54 Districts of the country on November 15 last year and in rest of the country on January 1, 2015.

An amount of Rs. 6745.41 crore has been transferred since November 15, 2014 through 18.9 crore transactions. At present, a fixed permanent advance of Rs.568 is also given to every consumer. This has been revised to become variable every month, equal to the actual subsidy due at the time of booking w.e.f. 1.4.2015 and subject to a maximum of Rs.568.
