Nasim Ziadi is new Chief Election Commissioner

Naseem_Zaidi_ta17260Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi is the new Chief Election Commissioner for the Election Commission of India. He is a 1976 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, and will be replacing HS Brahma.


Zaidi might be in the Election Commission till July 6, 2017. Previously, he has worked as Director-General of Civil Aviation, and was representative in the International Civil Aviation Organisation. He was also the Joint Secretary in the Civil Aviation ministry. Apart from that, he had served as the Commissioner of Bareilly Development Authority and Collector of Ghaziabad and Farrukhabad districts. His first posting after becoming an IAS Officer was as an Assistant Collector of Unnao district.
