Delhi Police plans to launch web app for its beat constables

DelhiPoliceTo make the vision of ‘SMART policing’ a reality, Delhi Police is working on a web-based app – Beatbook – for its beat constables to reduce paperwork.

With the launch of this app, police wants to replace the beat register where a constable has to make entries about his day-to-day activities with an electronic log book.

In police terminology, a beat is the territory that a police officer patrols. Through a smart phone loaded with ‘Beatbook’, a beat constable would be connected to a centralised server through which the records can be updated from anywhere.
