Govt pitches for CSCs to expand e-commerce in rural India

Ravi-Shankar-PrasadThe Government is planning to expand e-commerce in rural India through Common Service Centers (CSCs).


Presiding over the All Women Village Level Entrepreneur Conference organized by CSC e-Governance Services India Limited in New Delhi, Union Minister for Communication & IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The government is exploring how CSCs can serve as the platform to grow and expand e-commerce in rural areas.”

RS Sharma, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) echoed the same voice.

Dr. Dinesh K Tyagi, CEO, CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, said, “This is a silent revolution taking place through CSCs.”


“This one of its kind initiative will create huge employment opportunities.”
