Varesh Sinha, former Chief Secretary of Gujarat, who retired on October 31, 2014 after six-month extension, has been appointed State Election Commissioner. Sinha, a 1977 batch IAS officer, retired in April 2014 but got two extensions of three months each. His last extension ended on October 31.
