Through CCTNS, the police will create and maintain databases on crime and criminals in digital form for sharing by all stakeholders in the system, in order to effectively meet the challenges of crime control and the maintenance of public order.

Atmaram Deshpande, superintendent of police, said the first phase of this project would be completed in October, and the second phase would be completed by March, 2014.

This system can be accessed by citizens through multiple, transparent, and easily accessible channels (portal, mobile, call centre, etc.) in a citizen-friendly manner. Citizens can also file their complaint sitting at home, and can keep track of their application and complaints.
