The United States is experiencing revolution in its energy production owing to methods that enable it to extract natural gas from vast shale formations from deep under the earth’s surface. With increasing production, natural gas use is expanding, especially for transportation. However, the method of extraction gives rise to environmental concerns.
LEAM Drilling Systems, in Conroe, Texas, runs its trucks on compressed natural gas, or CNG. It is believed that natural gas makes the company’s 18 CNG trucks a good investment. The technologies that have made gas cheap enough to fuel trucks were developed here in Texas, principally by George Phydias Mitchell.
