Kenya drafted legislation to fast track Electronic Commerce

 

The government of Kenya is drafting a legislation to fast track Electronic Commerce in the country. The proposed 'e-Transaction Bill' is expected to help in the growth of e-Commerce sub sectors as well as attract investors.


De.Juma Okech, secretory to the e-Government Directorate at the office of the President, speaking during the Kenys ICT federation, said the proposed bill will address among other things the legal recognition of e-Signature, cyber crime, data protection and privacy. At the same meeting, Ms Gilda Oders, chairmen of business Process Outsourcing and Call Center Association, said the use of e-commerce and use of information and communication technologies would make it easy for information to be collected, stored, transferred and even manipulated.
