Estonian Tax and Customs Board offers new eService

The Estonian Tax and Customs Board has offered a new eService to local authorities, which will allow them to make inquiries on the income of the taxpayers living in their area.

The electronic access to tax information will bring with it an enormous duty of care for the people to handle the data. The purpose of the inquiry is to evaluate the financial circumstances of the applicants when they apply for subsidies or other financial aid. Users of this electronic access must guarantee that the data of the taxpayers can and will be used only for performing the tasks stipulated by the law. An official designated by the local authority is entitled to make an inquiry on name and surname of the taxpayer, personal identification code, declared taxable income, name and personal identification code or registry code of the withholder of the tax (employer of the person) and the income tax withheld from the taxpayer.
