The first electronic opening of Federal procurement tenders successfully took place on May 2, 2007 on Belgium's recently launched Federal eTendering platform; e-Tendering.

Belgium's Federal eTendering Platform is an open, secure, interoperable and re-configurable eProcurement platform based on open European standards and EC directives. Contracting authorities and economic operators can perform their daily e-Procurement activities through e-Tendering platform. The e-Tendering platform, based on the ePPS Open Source Software technology, which provides the contracting authorities a collaborative e-Procurement environment for organising their tender-related activities. The platform provides tools and services designed for economic operators and enables them to submit requests for participation, as well as to carry out an automated, transparent and safe submission of tenders.
