KMC, India implements e-Integrated tax collection system

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) of India has inaugurated the e-Integrated tax collection system on April 3, 2007. The state minister for commerce and industries, Nirupam Sen has launched the system.
The new tax collection is another step towards the introduction of a full-fledged e-governance system in the KMC. Eminent professors from IIT Kharagpur, Jadavpur University, Indian Statistical Institute are guiding KMC through the installation of the server. The central server would be installed within next six months. Once the process is completed, citizens will be able to pay taxes online from any office and procure information related to pending taxes.
