A pilot early warning system will be soon covering all coastal villages of Cuddalore (literally meaning sea town) district to help in effective dissemination of information, whenever disaster strikes.

 

A wireless-linked public address system was set up in 66 villages of Cuddalore to help the district administration instruct the community on how to act during a crisis including natural disasters such as flood, tsunami. The United Nations Development Programme had sanctioned a sum of INR 36 lakh for the project that would include public address systems, wireless-triggered early warning and real-time communication.
