Indian President to open Commonwealth ICT Summit in New Delhi on March 23, 2007

President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the two-day Commonwealth Connects International e-Partnership Summit in New Delhi on March 23, 2007. IT Ministers; CEOs, managing directors and other senior members from private sector and ICT world will attend the summit.


The Commonwealth Business Council (CBC), Commonwealth Secretariat, the Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will organise the summit. The main aim of the summit is to bridge the digital divide across the 53 countries of the commonwealth. The summit will focus on five speacialised areas, Building Policy and Regulatory Capacity, Modernising Education and Skills, Developing Entrepreneurship for Poverty Reduction, Promoting Local Access and Connectivity, and Regional Networking, Local Content and Knowledge.
