DoP and BSNL plans to set up ATMs in rural India

The Postal Department of India (DoP) has joined with Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) to set up ATMs in rural areas of India.

DoP has signed an MoU with to BSNL to set up towers in rural areas. BSNL is also planning to employ postman for collecting telephone bills in the remote areas. BSNL will use postmen as mobile PCOs. BSNL will provide Wireless in Local Loop (WLL) based mobile telephones to the postmen. Villagers can use the mobile phone and pay the postman for the charges.
