Outlining a vision for successful satellite towns in Tamil Nadu, President and CEO of HP Global Soft Som Mittal says satellite townships must involve all stakeholders, including local residents and farmers who sell their land for such projects.

Mittal said such projects must avoid creating a battle between technology and agriculture. Speaking at Connect 2006, the Information and Communication Technology conference (ICT). Mr. Mittal called for parties to show the political will to carry out large projects, which could extend beyond the 5-year term of a government. Tata Consultancy Services Chief Financial Officer S. Mahalingam said satellite towns were the first pillars of a knowledge-driven ecosystem. Ascendas President and CEO Chong Siak Ching said transparency in land use, plot and building regulations were important. The company developed Chennai’s IT Park as well as many satellite towns across the Asia-Pacific region.
