The Department of Trade and Industry, Philippines, is providing free use of broadband Internet facilities for small and medium entrepreneurs in 10 SME Centres in the country, including the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo.

The project is in line with the DTI’s Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development’s partnership with Globe Telecoms, a wholly-owned subsidiary Innove Communications. The DTI SME Centres have a helpdesk for entrepreneurs seeking information on business opportunities and access to the services of government and private institutions. Ten of these SME Centres have been equipped with desktop computers and broadband connections for a more efficient and effective delivery of services to SMEs. The Internet is being recognised as a powerful tool in promoting business activities and in acquiring market information to increase market access.
