Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani has recently announced 100 million subscribers joining the Reliance Jio netwok in less than six months of its launch.

“Today, just 170 days later, Jio has crossed 100 million customer mark on its 4g LTE all-IP wireless broadband network,” said the billionaire during a press conference in Mumbai.

Jio has added nearly seven customers every second for every day since its launch on 5 September last year. The company has invested Rs 1.5 trillion to build high speed internet infrastructure of Jio. A further announcement of Rs 30,000 crore was announced in December last year.


As its ‘Happy New Year’ pack of free data and free calls is ending on 31st March this year, the company has announced that it will start charging its subscribers from 1 April.

The free domestic calls will continue and there will be no roaming charges.


Ambani also announced the launch of Jio Prime membership programme for a fee of Rs 99 whereby the free data plan will continue for 12 more months. After that, the jio prime membership will cost Rs 300 per month. Reliance Infocomm will add more value plans to the Jio Prime membership and the announcement will be made through the My JioApp soon.
