Centre tells states to link Aadhaar with caste, domicile certificates

CasteCertificate

In a bid to speed up the procedure for giving caste and domicile-based benefits to school students, the Centre has directed all State Governments to link the Aadhaar data of such students with their caste and domicile certificates.

These certificates are issued to students in a period of 30-60 days after they duly apply for it in Class V or VIII. Once the students furnish the concerned documents in this annual exercise, the revenue or the state government authorities furthers takes it up to do the necessary.

This move is expected to benefit students as it will pave way for their easy identification of caste and domicile through their Aadhaar card details. It will also remove the discrepancy of not issuing such certificates to school students who are liable to receive caste and domicile-based benefits.
