Well, farmers in Haryana now have a website to get information on the latest weather forecasts and agro advisories. This is how; state government is taking help of e-governance to reach out to the farmers.  Haryana government has launched ‘e-mausam’ website to provide weather forecasts and agro advisories using Web and SMS-based alerts through National Informatics Centre (NIC)’s SMS gateway. It is helping farmers to have more lead time to minimize losses due to abnormal weather conditions. Also this helps farmers to increase their productivity with efficient management of day-to-day farm operations.

To avail the advantage of this, one has to simply visit ‘http://emausamhau.gov.in and get registered to receive SMS with weather condition details. Knowing fully well the internet penetration in rural areas, state government has also kept other options of registration in Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and local Agriculture Officers by submitting the required details.

The web portal was conceptualized by Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, with technical support from the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Haryana. So far, more than 75000 farmers of Haryana have been registered with this portal and availing SMSes on weather forecasts.
