Intelligent Energy and Microqual Techno Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a partnership to provide telecom infrastructure using equipment mounted on existing power transmission towers in India. 

This partnership will enable to provide immediate access to almost 85,000 towers and will target the entire country within next 12 months. This agreement will reduce the cost and set up time of new telecom sites in the country.

There are a total of 1,138,300 power transmission towers in India .The transmission towers can be mounted with both telecoms and non-telecoms related equipment such as potential wireless broadband, distributed antenna systems, alternate networks for mobile network off-load, national security and municipal surveillance, and environmental monitoring.

This deal will facilitate the use of power grid infrastructure to mount telecoms and other equipment for the first time in India. It will aim in distributing power management as a core focus area.
