Karnataka government is all set to curb corruption, with its new proposal to implement the Citizens’ Charter in all government offices, with stringent time limit to deliver various services.
The state cabinet on Friday is likely to approve the proposal to implement. The initiative comes as part of the government’s assurance to provide responsive and transparent governance. Reacting to the development, a senior minister said, “Using information technology for effective administration and introduction of e-governance to curb corruption has been a long-pending suggestion for administrative reforms in the country and Karnataka is taking a major step with the Citizens’ Charter”.
As part of chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda’s plans to turn the administration people-friendly, his office would soon set up an exclusive grievances redressal cell that would work round the clock. It would be equipped with modern facilities and personnel to receive complaints or petitions through e-mail, telephone or personal delivery.
