Nishant Kumar Yadav

The Union government has appointed Nishant Kumar Yadav, a 2013-batch IAS officer, as the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh, replacing Vinay Pratap Singh, who has been cleared for central deputation. Nishant Kumar Yadav currently serving as Gurugram’s Deputy Commissioner, will take over the role, as per an official letter from the Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training. The appointment, part of an inter-cadre deputation from the Haryana cadre to the AGMUT cadre, is for a term of three years or until further notice.

Yadav was appointed Gurugram’s DC in February 2022, succeeding Yash Garg. His administrative experience includes positions as Karnal’s DC, Additional DC, Municipal Commissioner, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sonepat. He has also served as Secretary to the Haryana Public Service Commission. This transition follows the Haryana government’s nomination of three IAS officers for the Chandigarh post, with Yadav’s name emerging alongside Ajay Kumar, Rohtak’s DC, and Manoj Kumar, Sonepat’s DC.
