Appointments (GoI): Key Positions Filled in CRPF, CISF, CBDT, and More

The Government of India has announced a series of significant appointments and extensions across various departments:


New Assignments and Additional Charges

  • Anish Dayal Singh, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will take on the additional role of Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) following Nina Singh’s retirement on July 31, 2024.
  • Prabodh Seth, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), has been appointed as a Member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), succeeding Sanjai Kumar Verma.
  • Ramesh Narain Parbat, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in Lucknow, has also been appointed a Member of CBDT, replacing Ravi Agrawal.

Extensions and New Roles

  • Vijayendra Bidari, Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has extended his deputation tenure for six months beyond July 18, 2024.
  • Niranjan Suryabhan Sonak has been chosen as the Director (Marketing) of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCFL).
  • Abhas Katra Singh has been appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for I&B, Railways, and Electronics & IT, for two years, one month, and twenty days.

Diplomatic Assignments:


  • Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, will concurrently serve as the Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen, based in Riyadh.
  • Mayank Joshi has been appointed the High Commissioner of India to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, residing in Kingston.

Police and Security Forces:

  • Mitesh Jain was appointed Inspector General in CRPF on a five-year deputation.
  • Parul Kush Jain will serve as Deputy Inspector General in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on a five-year deputation.

Additional Responsibilities and Extensions

  • Kuldeep Kumar Saharawat‘s tenure as Director at the Election Commission of India has been extended by one year until July 16, 2025.
  • Pranab Kumar Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., will also take on the role of CVO at SECL, Bilaspur, for six months starting June 12, 2024.
  • L B Lal, Joint Secretary at the Union Public Service Commission, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre for promotion purposes.
