Centre: Saurabh Garg appointed Secretary, Ministry of Statistics

In recent administrative developments, Saurabh Garg, an IAS officer of 1991 batch, currently serving as Secretary of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has been assigned an additional role as Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. This responsibility was handed over following the completion of Dr. G P Samanta‘s tenure on April 15, 2024. Mr. Garg will hold this position until a regular successor is appointed.


Furthermore, Yatinder Prasad (IA&AS: 1993), Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has had his tenure extended for an additional two years beyond August 4, 2024, demonstrating confidence in his leadership and commitment to the ministry’s goals.

Additionally, Vivek Aggarwal (IAS: 1994: MP), currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue, has been entrusted with the added responsibility of Director of the Finance Intelligence Unit – India. This extension spans a further six months, from March 30, 2024, to September 29, 2024.
