Himanshu Gupta Appointed as New Secretary of CBSE

Mr. Himanshu Gupta, a 2012 batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CBSE operates under the aegis of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

Currently serving as the Director (Education) in the Department of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr. Gupta will transition to his new role promptly. This appointment comes as per an official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), stipulating a four-year tenure, effective from the date of assuming office or until further directives, whichever comes first.

Mr. Gupta brings a distinguished educational background, having completed his schooling at Shivalik Doon School and Kundan Vidya Mandir Civil Lines with honors, followed by an engineering degree from IIT Delhi. His illustrious career has seen him hold pivotal positions, marked by remarkable contributions. Notable achievements include the establishment of the first Citizen Facilitation Center during his tenure as SDM in Najafgarh, Delhi, and the enhancement of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tissa, along with the establishment of mobile network connectivity in the insurgency-prone NSCN district during his service as Deputy Commissioner in Longding District, Arunachal Pradesh.
