The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions on May 13 issued orders for the appointment of Reenat Sandhu (IFS 1989-Batch) as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Sandhu will succeed the charge from a senior bureaucrat Vikas Swarup, who retires on June 30.

She is currently posted as Officer on Special Duty (IP, South and Oceania) in MEA. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has cleared the newly assigned position to Sandhu.
