Rajiv Mehrishi, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as Home Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, for a period of two years. He has taken over the charge from L C Goyal, who is voluntarily retiring from service with immediate effect by waiving the notice period.
In a similar development, an additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences has been given to Prof K Vijay Raghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology. He has been appointed in place of Dr Sailesh Nayak on his relinquishing the charge of the post on August 31, 2015 for a period of three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
