Binita Thakur, a 1996 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as Private Secretary to Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani. Thakur has been appointed at the level of Director for a period up to December 17, 2016, i.e. maximum period of seven year stay outside the cadre in a single stint, or on co-terminus basis with the tenure of the Minister. She has been working as Deputy Inspector General in CBI.
